Lovable app not deploying or not working after publish

Your Lovable app won't publish, or the live site doesn't show your changes? The Publish dialog says why. Use its Try again or Try to fix action, or fix the blocked setting.

Short answer

When a Lovable app won't deploy, the Publish dialog shows a Publishing failed banner or blocks the button. Use the banner's action: Try again for temporary issues, Try to fix for build or configuration errors, or reconnect an expired integration such as Supabase. If it published but the live site looks old, click Publish, then Publish changes.

What it means in plain English

Lovable's publish guide says: "When a publish fails, a Publishing failed banner appears in the Publish dialog with a message explaining what went wrong and how to resolve it." Each message has its own fix. Sometimes the dialog blocks publishing before it starts.

A different problem looks the same: the publish worked, but the live site doesn't show your latest changes. Lovable says publishing "deploys a snapshot," and later changes "are not automatically pushed live."

Likely causes

From Lovable's troubleshooting list:

  • Temporary issue, "such as a timeout or a rate limit on a connected service."
  • Error in your app, "such as a build error or an edge function that couldn't be deployed."
  • Configuration issue, for example "a file that is too large to include."
  • External connection or secret, "such as an expired Supabase connection or a connected service that reached its plan limits."
  • Database change conflicts with existing data in the live database.
  • Internal error on Lovable's side.
  • Blocked before publishing: Build errors need fixing, no editor permission, a workspace approval policy, or Fix security issues to publish.

How to fix it, step by step

  1. Open the Publish dialog and read the banner or the blocked-button message.
  2. Temporary issue: click Try again. Lovable says "Retries usually succeed."
  3. Error in your app or configuration issue: click Try to fix. Lovable investigates and applies a fix. Then publish again.
  4. External connection or secret: fix the setting outside the project, for example reconnect Supabase or raise a plan limit, then click Try again. For Supabase, see Lovable Supabase connection broke.
  5. Database conflict: click Ask the assistant to help. Lovable confirms with you before changing real data.
  6. Internal error: try again after a few minutes. If it keeps failing, contact Lovable support with your project link.
  7. Blocked: ask for editor access, request approval, or open the Security view and fix critical findings.
  8. Published but old: click Publish, then Publish changes. A dot on the Publish button means you have unpublished changes.
  9. Not live at my URL: confirm the dialog said Your website is live, and open the exact lovable.app address from your URL subdomain. A custom domain's DNS can take time.

How to check it worked

  • The dialog shows Your website is live, and the Publish button has no dot.
  • The live URL shows your latest change in a private window.

If the live page is blank, see Lovable blank screen after publish. If only the editor preview fails, see Lovable: Live preview couldn't start.

Questions people ask

Why can't I publish my Lovable project?

Lovable shows a Publishing failed message with the action to take, or blocks the dialog for build errors, missing editor permission, a workspace approval policy, or unresolved critical security issues.

Why don't I see my latest changes on the live Lovable site?

Publishing deploys a snapshot, and later changes are not pushed automatically. Click Publish, then Publish changes.

What should I do if Lovable publishing fails with an internal error?

Lovable says to try publishing again after a few minutes, and to contact support with your project link if the failure keeps happening.
