Stripe error: No such price / No such customer (resource_missing)

Stripe says "No such price" or "No such customer" in production? You're mixing test and live keys or IDs. Match them.

Reviewed October 14, 2026

What it means in plain English

Stripe can't find the price, product or customer ID you sent, usually because it exists in test mode but you're using live keys (or the reverse).

Likely causes

  • Live secret key (sk_live_) with price IDs created in a sandbox/test mode.
  • Test key in production with real customer IDs.
  • IDs from a different Stripe account.

How to fix it, step by step

  1. Check which key production uses: sk_test_… vs sk_live_… (publishable keys: pk_test_/pk_live_).
  2. In the Stripe Dashboard, switch to live mode and recreate the products/prices; copy the live price IDs into your env vars.
  3. Update the webhook secret too; live endpoints have their own whsec_.
  4. Redeploy.

How to check it worked

  • Make a real low-value purchase (refund it after) and confirm checkout opens.
